Kindergarten Valentine’s Dance
The kindergarten class will be sponsoring a Valentine’s Day Dance on Tuesday, February 7th. All tickets to the dance will be $3.00.
The dance will begin right after school for grades K-2, from 3:30-4:45. These students must return the attached permission slip stating that the student may stay after school for the dance. Students will also need their $3.00 to get into the dance. If there is no permission slip turned in, the students will be sent home on the bus.
Grades 3-5 will begin their dance at 5:00, and it will continue until 6:30. No student in grades 3-5 will be allowed to stay after school to wait until their dance time. These students need to return to school at 5:00. All parents must be here promptly at 6:30 to pick up their child.
Students may bring money for drinks, snacks, and other fun activities. Pictures will be made for $5.00. All proceeds from this dance will go toward the Kindergarten graduation and trips.
Please return your child’s permission slip and money to one of the kindergarten teachers no later than Monday, February 6th.

A Message from the Gym:
Jump Rope for Heart
Students at Meigs South Elementary will be participating in the Jump Rope for Heart program again this year. Heart disease is our nation’s #1 killer and heart disease is the #3 cause of deaths. With obesity rates continuing to climb, we face an uphill battle to keep children and adults active.
February is Heart month and we will be celebrating it through fundraising. Our goal for this year is $2000.00. If we reach that goal, Mr. Watson has volunteered to consume a bowl of worms (yuck)! The Meigs South Jumpers will also be performing a jump rope routine at the school.
Math
Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades will be getting math assistance in the gym. We will be working on math fact repetition during attendance checks and cardio activities. Extra repetition will improve the students’ chances to master basic math skills.
