Meigs South Shuffle - Sep 28, 2015 - 10:52:43 AM

On Thursday, Oct. 1st, all Meigs South students will participate in this event by walking or jogging as many times as possible around the walking trail in 30 minutes.   Students will be walking with their class along with one other class from their grade level.   Over the next week and a half, students will collect pledges or donations. For family members or friends who would like to make a pledge, you will need to write their pledge amount down on the pledge sheet.   The pledge given will be multiplied by the number of times walked around course.   For example, if a pledge of $2 is given for each lap and a student walks 10 laps in the allotted 30 minutes, the student would have earned $20 from the patron.   Family and friends can choose to give a flat donation as well.   All pledges need to be turned in to your child’s teacher by Wednesday, Sept. 30th.   (Only the first two columns of the pledge sheet will be completed at this time).

Following the walk-a-thon, your child will bring home a sheet stating the number of laps he/she walked and the amount of money to collect.   All money must be turned in by Oct. 8th.   Prizes will be awarded to students on Oct. 9th.

The following prizes will be awarded to students:

2 Bicycles (one per student)

4 - $10 Itunes Cards (one per student)

3 - $25 WalMart Gift Cards (one per student)

*Students who earn the most money from 1st – 17th place (school-wide) will choose from the prize list.   Students will choose the item of their choice based on their rank.   Once the first place earner has chosen, that item will be removed and the 2nd place earner will then choose, and so on.

*All students will receive a Meigs South water bottle and snow cone.

Meigs South has chosen this event because 100% of the money earned goes to our school.

Unlike most fundraisers, a percentage of the profit has to be shared with the vendor.
