Meigs South Elementary

          The first six weeks has been a succes. We had a penny drive to raise donations for The Imagination Library. Our school won the competition over Meigs North. We will be getting a storyteller to visit our school as a reward.
     Our first Open House for this school year was held on September 24th. The parents and students showed their support by coming out to visit the school in great numbers. We have gotten the PTO involved early with a membership drive and a fundraiser (Doughnut Sale) coming up soon. This year's officers are : President - Jill Vincent, Vice-President - Angela Millard, Treasurer - Robin Meadows, and Secretary - Beth Harris. Please show your support to them in the activities that they sponsor. They work hard to benefit our school.
     At the end of the first six weeks, we acknowledged perfect attendance, honor roll, and AR reading success. Other programs have begun. After-school tutoring on Monday and Wednesday for grades 2-5 are from 3:30-5:30. Family AR reading night is on Thursday from 3:45-6:45. Fifth grade classes began their writing practice for the TCAP in September. This will continue through the month of January. Many classes have already taken field trips to enhance your child's understanding of the importance of education in their every day lives.
     As the year moves on, we expect greater and greater accomplishments from our students. We invite you to be a part of their success.
