Coordinated School Health Screenings
By Mrs. Connye Rowland, School Health Coordinator
Nov 13, 2007 - 9:39:28 AM

Coordinated School Health will be conducting Health Screenings this year.   The grades to be screened are K, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9th.   The screenings will include hearing, vision, blood pressure, and body mass index.   The 6th grade will also get scoliosis screenings.   The data will be sent to East Tennessee State University to be compiled with data from other youth in our state to be evaluated by the Department of Education.   No personal data will be sent.   It will be impossible to identify your child through this data.    If you don’t want you child to be screened, please return the letter that was sent to each student in these grades.   This is a free service available to your child. Please take advantage of these screenings so that we may identify any positional health problems.  If any student fails any of the screenings the parents will be notified by phone or mail.   We will not send out the results of the screenings, unless they are requested.   If you want the screening results, please contact your school nurse and it will be mailed to you.   All information is confidential and will be kept in a locked cabinet that will only be available to the nurse, principal, and school health coordinator.   The dates for the screenings are Meigs Middle (November 16th), Meigs North (December 6th), and Meigs South (December 12th).   The High School screenings will be sometime after Christmas break. If you have any questions, please contact Connye Rowland at 334-4467.
